SWEDO Innovations Limited is a Ugandan, women-led social enterprise that develops environmentally responsible products and services from locally available resources and waste materials. The company combines enterprise development, circular-economy production and community engagement to create practical solutions that improve livelihoods while protecting the environment.

The company’s work sits at the intersection of sustainable agriculture, clean energy, waste recovery and women’s economic empowerment. SWEDO prioritizes solutions that are affordable, locally produced and suitable for smallholder farmers, rural households, women, young people and community-based enterprises.

Carbonized Briquettes

At SWEDO, we have a technology of converting any biodegradable waste like kitchen waste, municipal waste, agricultural residues etc into a clean, affordable, efficient and sustainable smoke free cooking fuel known as the Bio-charcoal.

It burns 3 times longer than wood charcoal and enables the end user to save money on cooking bills.

Less greenhouse gas emissions hence safer for both human health and the eco system.

Forest cover depletion can be greatly curbed by promoting the adoption of this biocharcoal cooking and heating fuel as its production doesn’t call for deforestation. Therefore reforestation and conservation of the bio diversity and the eco system.

It is a restoration sustainable waste management strategy, preventing the release of the greenhouse gas emissions especially methane into the atmosphere as well promoting better sanitation and wellbeing.

Eletric Pressure Cookers

Electric pressure cookers are versatile, independent appliances with internal heating elements that do not require a stove. They are designed to simplify meal preparation with automated functions, consistent temperature, and enhanced safety compared to traditional stovetop models.

Key Features and Functions

Multifunctionality: Most modern units operate as “multi-cookers,” offering functions like pressure cooking, slow cooking, sautéing, steaming, and making yogurt or rice.
Digital Controls: Features often include an LED display and up to 14+ preset programs for specific dishes like soup, meat, beans, and cake.
Precision and Safety: Sensors monitor internal heat to prevent overheating, and lockable lids ensure the unit only operates when securely sealed.
Convenience Features: Many models include a “delay start” timer to schedule cooking and a “keep warm” function for after the cycle completes.

Household Solar Aided Stove

The Solar Aided Stove (SAS) is an innovative device designed to harness the power of the sun to cook food. By using the sun’s energy as a supporting fuel, this stove allows you to prepare meals without relying on other sources like gas, electricity, or wood. The stove reuses volcanic (magma) rocks and briquettes made from organic waste.

The SAS are ideal for cooking, simmering and reheating. Solar cookers offer the same cooking performance as traditional cookers.

With a Solar Aided Cooker, you can cook anytime the sun is out, even when the sunlight is low. The SAS is designed to work with as little as 30 watts of sunlight, making it suitable for use during various times of the day. Whether it is a bright, sunny afternoon or a somewhat cloudy day, as long as the sun is visible, you can use the cooker effectively. Additionally, the SAS comes with a battery for energy storage that allow you to store solar energy for use when the sun is not directly shining. This means you can continue cooking even if the sunlight is temporarily blocked by clouds or during the evening hours.
